Who: Solid intermediate boaters who are comfortable on class III+ with a combat roll and an adventurous attitude. Experienced creekers who are willing to help with safety/guidance, would be much appreciated as well. I have been in contact with several of my normal creekin' friends who have agreed to help out. I'll keep a subsequent post updated with all of those that have RSVP'd. Attendees acknowledge that they are solely responsible for their decisions and the outcome of their actions.
What: Creeking trip. Creek or river running type boats recommended in addition to the normal safety gear. This will be a low-frills trip with the focus being finding great creeks to paddle. Plan on camping or being flexible about making other lodging arrangements. Depending on the ultimate destination, cabins may be available for those interested.
When: March 7-9. Those that can only make the 8th and 9th are welcome as well.
Where: Weather will dictate. Ideally, any of the several class III-IV runs on the Cumberland Plateau would be in play. There are also a few runs that would be suitable in AL, eastern TN, or western NC. The destination will be announced
Why: To give intermediate boaters an opportunity to try out creeking in the company of experienced creek boaters with a dedication to safety. Also, to put together a trip where aspiring creekers will find challenging while giving advanced boaters the opportunity to help guide newcomers on a creek or river that won't bore them.
How to sign up: Please PM or e-mail me via the links on my profile. I'm happy to answer any questions. If you're interested in helping out with the leadership/safety aspect, let me know that as well. The more the merrier. If we have a large group, we can always split it up.
