Welcome to the Missouri Whitewater Association!

The Missouri Whitewater Association is a public organization which exists to encourage the growth of paddling as a beneficial recreational sport and a recognized competitive sport, to teach paddling skills, river safety techniques, first aid, and outfitting, to sponsor river trips and other outdoor activities, and to educate club members and the general public about the sport and about river conservation.

The MWA promotes the conservation and preservation of all kinds of free flowing rivers and wilderness areas, including the local Preserve the St. Francis River activity focused on our local whitewater gem. It works with other organizations that share similar interests, to support environmental issues that protect our natural resources and it promotes paddling interests through cooperation with governmental departments, bureaus, and agencies, and private and public organizations that share similar interests.

The Missouri Whitewater Association operates as a General Not for Profit Corporation, registered in the State of Missouri, for educational and recreational purposes, and is a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. MWA is classified as a public charity under section 509(a)(2) of the Internal Revenue Code, and contributions to MWA are tax deductible under section 170 of the Code.

Operation Clean Stream

On Saturday August 23th, the MWA will be cleaning the five mile section of the Meramec River from the Sappington Bridge boat ramp to the Meramec State Park boat ramp. We will meet at 9:00 am at the Sappington Bridge put-in and arrange for vehicle shuttles. We should be off the river by 2:30 to 3:00 pm. There will be a BBQ with refreshments for participants at the State Park . I will have gloves and trash bags available. You can paddle canoes or kayaks. It’s a fun family float on a pretty section of the river. Bring drinks and a snack for on the river.

2nd Annual TRR Spring Paddlefest, north central Arkansas

Where: The Wake Foundation facilities in Mountain Home, Arkansas, easy access to recreational rivers and lakes, approximately a 6 hour drive from St. Louis.
Activity: Kayak / Canoe, flat & modest white water (class 1-2). This can be people’s 1st experience on moving water. We will boat a river every day, practice in the hotel pool, and can go to a lake. Participants, including accompanying family members, are expected to paddle or help with gear and shuttle.

2nd Annual Simpson Lake Race

200 meter race -- head to head and timed.
This is a fun, easy-going race experience, open to every age and is family-oriented. Beginners encouraged to participate! Come race or come watch! $10.00 fee for racers. Veterans & military service members free. Additional donations accepted.

ACA Swiftwater Rescue Course organized by TRR

Kelly from Team River Runner has organized an ACA level 4/5 Swiftwater Rescue Course on the St. Francis over Memorial Day Weekend. The class will be led by notable instructor Jim Coffey of the Rescue for 'River Runners' video series. The class is limited to 12 students and is $350 per student and registration is due by May 2nd.
